On a subway grate??? Er...

There are way too many catastrophic options. I couldn't decide. I'm pretty sure it's arrogant to think that man could destroy the Earth, but the nation? Nations come and nations go, so yeah, I suppose we could do it.

Whoa, no, I don't agree that snuggiesutra is a sign of doom. On the contrary, I think people take themselves too damned seriously. A sense of humor is what is lacking. The PC camp and all those who look for ways to be offended could ultimately be our downfall.

Mel:

I don't see how it's arrogant to think that five billion of us can destroy the earth. We seem to be doing a damn good job, actually.

I did this yesterday and forgot to post it - here's a screenshot: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mellicious/3902393591/ Apparently I am actually less pessimistic than their average, which is sort of scary.

Bunny42:

I base that observation upon the fact that one volcanic eruption spews more so-called pollution into the atmosphere we're supposedly destroying than all of mankind combined. And there have been untold hundreds of eruptions over the years, and... we're still here. I'm sure if we put our minds to it, we could destroy OURSELVES (with nuclear war or perhaps some antibiotic-resistant pestilence, or maybe we over-fish the oceans and all starve to death) but not the Earth. Mother Earth will go when she's damned good and ready. Unless she gets hit by a killer asteroid...
