1 April Another great day! Sixty-five yesterday, promising today. I have yet to put my winter coat away, though - it's still on the back of my chair so I don't jinx anything. Two years ago there actually was a blizzard on this date. Or was it one year ago? Time flies when you're drowning in slush. The papers call it the April Fool's storm. So here I am, wandering around the journals, and I see a mention of something called the "Melissa virus," and I swear, my very first thought was: "So that's why Melissa hasn't updated lately ...." Another journally thing that just absolutely made me lose it laughing was the sordid tale of Elizabeth and her duck. Mind you, if I were in a room with her duck, it might make me crazy, but it's really funny from over here .... I can't tease her, tho, since I went to the Bread & Circus with Nonelvis and obviously fell so completely in love with this stuffed cotton bunny with enormous black eyes that Nonelvis just reached over and put it in with her other purchases without saying a word. It's sitting on the scanner now, watching me. Al said to me in email about his March 28 entry that he didn't think people could change their nature, sadly - that no matter how much the technology improves and we improve ourselves, sooner or later we always go back to killing each other .... I thought about it and I can't disagree, but I don't think it applies to all of us. Some of us will always be fundamentally murderous. Some of us will always be silly. Some always depressed. And, to really well and truly mix everything up, some of us fit into more than one place at once. Or more than one gender. But I think we always come out okay in the end. As long as we have our ducks. And our bunnies.
