various absences

I haven't written here much in the last few days.

It's not, as Kymm might suppose, because I have been devoting all my attention to making catty remarks on the journal list - although I can already see that subscribing to it was a mistake; there aren't enough hours in the day.

No, it's because Aedie and his experiences on an alien world have been occupying my full attention. This book is full steam ahead with a venegance. And yes, it will be a book. If I go at this rate, on the new timetable, I will have a finished draft of 60,000 to 70,000 words by the end of March.

Then I'll come looking for readers. Heh, heh. Lock your doors now, ye who know me well.

What I REALLY need is a reader with a good knowledge of astronomy, to check on those wonky moons. Did I say that already? Sorry.

It's odd how I react when other people don't send mail for a while. With some people I assume they're busy; with others, I assume they're mad at me; and in at least one case right now, I assume the person is having internet problems.

I'm a little paranoid, or had you noticed? Fortunately, I don't have reason to believe that any of the people who aren't speaking to me this week are mad at me. They just have lives.

I got an email from a friend yesterday morning that was exceedingly disturbing. It said, in its entirety:

I won't be here for a while. Going to the hospital. Don't send me mail.

Under the circumstances, I have nothing to say about Beth's departure. At least I have a reasonable certainty that she is alive and in good health right now.

Unlike other people I know.
