At this late date I have no idea what that dead Onion link went to.

dawdling and miscellany

When I check email compulsively even though I know nothing's there, it slowly dawns on me that I want a deep conversation, an argument, something. I adore Nonelvis but I don't have heated, deep discussions with her very often - we either agree completely or we have roped the topic off; there is no middle ground.

On the other hand, I'm rapidly reaching the point where I can't put off doing the things I really should be doing any longer. I'm running out of excuses. Why, I even talked about my sex life here today in an attempt to avoid work.

In the usual case of synchronicity, two people have sent me the Hamster Dance, after I had already seen it on Flutterby and then on Need To Know, which is probably where Flutterby got it in the first place. Go there and follow the link if you like; I'm not linking directly to it here because it's stupid and dangerous: While at work, I went to the site, then resized my Netscape window, and voila - I had to restart my entire X window manager. (Non-Unix people: That's bad.)

I also don't want to see this link anymore, from The Onion. Although I like it a lot better than the hamsters. Thank-yous to everyone who sent it to me.

The plane tickets have been purchased, so I guess it's official: We're going to San Francisco in April for a few days.

My setting foot in California is, of course, one of the signs of the apocalypse (Did I do this riff here already, or just in a thousand emails?). If you live near the San Andreas Fault, you may want to spend late April elsewhere.

For once Nonelvis' Airfare Magic didn't kick in - or maybe it did and tickets are just extremely expensive right now. Commercial airlines - no, I'm not going to get started on that.

Her Reservation Magic isn't doing well either; we picked our third choice for the yearly Hunger Brunch last weekend (although it was excellent nonetheless), and we have gone through about six restaurants today trying to find a place that'll serve us dinner on Valentine's Day. We started too late this year, that's all; usually we reserve a Valentine's table around New Year's Day. Boston is a city of restaurants, but on special occasions everyone wants to splurge on the same ten five-star ones.
