I am still a mess about "judgement" and "judgment." The latter looks like it is missing a letter, and I have spelled it very inconsistently over the years. In reformatting these pages, I leave it the way it was at the time and don't try to impose consistency after the fact. I can take some consolation in the fact that "judgement" is apparently a fairly broadly accepted variant.

rushing to judgment

Let this be a lesson to me.

Mea culpa to dear REM, whom I have maligned unjustly. And thanks to Beth - no, not Beth (Melissa), but (Xeney) Beth - who called my attention to my grievous error.

I said that my spelling of "judgment" had been corrected by REM, who wanted me to add an extra E. In fact (I had to go back to the original postcard in question, which is what I should have done to begin with), I spelled it "judgement" and he said it should be "judgment." Which is correct. In fact, it's so strange that I put the E in at all, that I reversed the situation in my head.

I should also point out (before anyone else does) that the phrase "I told him to count my blessings" was obviously written by my subconscious while I wasn't looking.

Shucks. Why don't you go read the latest addition to the Thinking Aloud ring instead? The prose is better over there today. I need more coffee.
